monterey seals ~ citrus tree challenge!

First of all, these seals totally cracked us up!! LOL!!!

Tammy's challenge at CTS is to alter your title letters in a creative way.
I wanted mine to be smooth & silky like a seal's fur, so I inked the raw chipboard letters and then applied glossy accents. That's it!

For my BG corner chip pieces, I applied some glossy accents, and then scrunched up some jenni bowlin crepe paper.

Tom and I saw sea lion, sea otter and elephant seal fur in a display, while we were at Pt. Lobos St. Park, just south of Carmel, California last month. We were able to touch them and honestly, they all felt like silk!

I loved these photos from the Fisherman's Wharf. It had been days and days of me zooming way in to try to get pics of sea lions, otters & elephant seals.....and then, Tom and I come around a corner and there are these animals just hangin' out! Right down there in a boat! Really, it was hysterical. :) :)

Hope you're having a freakishly happy halloween!!

Party Time Tuesdays Challenge #18!

Who doesn't want to participate in a challenge called "carrot cake"?? I know I'm in. LOL!!

This week, the PTT girls challenge is to create a card with the colors of a carrot cake. It just so happens that I make a kick-a$$ carrot cake - - from scratch. Cream cheese icing too. I make it every year for my mom for her birthday and have been doing so for as long as I can remember.

So, of course this challenge made me think of my sweet mom! She will be 78 years old this year - God bless her. She's still active and fun to hang out with. (She loves my scrapping too...and I share los, cards and projects with her regularly.)

This card will go to my mother for her birthday in December - and it will match her carrot cake (with cream cheese icing and walnuts). :) :)

{{Card Details: American Crafts base card in brown. The pp is Prima and Basic Gray. I stitched down a felt leaf and a paper leaf. Flower is a Prima, button is Jenni Bowlin and that tiny heart is a 7 Gypsies chip piece that I painted and glittered w/Doodlebug glitter. The "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" sentiment is a Fancy Pants rub-on. I then used glossy accents on the small banner to make it shine, plus it makes it sturdier as well.}}

If anybody wants my carrot cake recipe, just let me know. ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

3 lay-outs, 4 cards and a coaster!!!

Holy crap, I have not scrapped this much in months & months!!! Had the BEST TIME @Citrus Tree Studio this week-end {thanks to the entire DT & Cindy!}. I only went outdoors once all week-end and that was to get the mail. LOL!!! The hubs called these past 48 hours "a scrap-a-palooza". :) :)

I'm not going to put everything on my blog from this week-end. Instead I'm just going to post my favorite cards which were a challenge by Rita. A very simple challenge. We needed to make a set of 3 cards and use cs, pp, ribbon, a large embellie & a sentiment.

I went with Christmas cards and used this fun Crate pp ("chimney" is from last year; "festive" is from 2010). I mixed them up, kept it simple and came up with these.

{Crate pp, chip, sticker, stampin' up stamp, stickles & offray ribbon}

{Crate pp, chip, stickles, Fancy Pants stamp, & offray ribbon}
{Crate pp, chip, sticker, Inkadinkado stamp & offray ribbon}

I swear, one could put offray ribbon on a ratty paper bag and it would make it pretty. I {love} offray ribbon!!!

Thanks for coming by! Have a great week!! :)

rock on.

...just another birthday card that I made using the fun Fancy Pants "it's your day" line.

PP, a very fun rub-on, offray ribbon, thickers, a FP sparkly button, and some chip stars covered w/Martha Stewart micro beads complete this rockin' card. {haha!}

thanks for lookin'!
p.s. on-line crop starts this morning at Citrus Tree Studio!! The DT girls have really fun challenges (I can tell from the sneak peeks) in store. :)

party time tuesdays challenge #17!

The challenge this week at Party Time Tuesdays is to make a birthday card - your choice, anything goes. What scrapper doesn't love that freedom to create? I know I do.

This past week-end, I bought some Fancy Pants "it's your day" line. So, so cute!! For this card, I used the FP pp, rub-on & sticker. After putting it together, I added some handstitching. The card was finished w/Queen & Co. sunflower pearls and light green jute. :)

Thanks, PTT girls, for the fun challenge. I'm loving your site!

melonie's sketch challenge @ citrus tree studio

I used Mel's sketch @CTS for this lo - yosemite.

Last month, Tom (the hubs of almost 26 years) and I flew into Sacramento for a ten day California driving adventure. And adventure it was! Scary at times driving into & around Yosemite...scary (at times) driving along Big Sur & the coast....but always, always spectacular! California is such a beautiful state and I am so glad that I got to see it. :)

For the yosemite lo, I used Coredinations cs and Pink Paislee pp.
Citrus Tree Studio is having a crop this coming week-end. Challenges & prizes galore. :) :) :)

party time tuesdays!

Party time Tuesdays blog challenge this week is to make a Fall themed birthday card.
Right away I thought of this Cosmo Cricket pp. I cut the leaf, did a little backstitch, and then mounted it on a piece of chipboard. The Chatterbox chip piece underneath is ancient - I embossed it for some sparkle. The sentiment rub is Basic Gray, pearls are Queen & Co. Not sure if you can tell from the photos, but I crimped the CC pp.
Thanks, party time girls, for the fun card challenge!
Happy Fall, everyone! (We don't say "y'all" way up here.) :) :) :)

...a challenge.

Hi all my bloggin' friends!

Yesterday I saw my friend Jan's blog that has the easiest, you-can-do-it-challenge posted.

She is part of the
Party Time Tuesday's design team. The challenge is to make a birthday card.

This morning, I made my first card in 5 months. Yay, right? :)

Feeling a little bit rusty...but how can you not love this prima paper? I took the easy route and started with the prettiest piece of pp in my stash. The flower is prima, chip piece is 7 Gypsies, stamp is Inkadinkado. I added a little bit of zig zag stitching, and some buttons & twine.

Thanks Jan and Party Time Tuesday's girls for helping me to get back into the swing of things!
